ADVENT 2026

People of all faith communities  are invited to this special Christmas worship event at the historic Schram Chapel on The Glen. Looking for a taste of Christmas tradition?  This is the event for you.

¨ O Come, All Ye Faithful, ¨ O Little Town of Bethlehem ¨ Silent Night

Glenview United Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir, along with Instrumental Performers will perform:

¨ Still, Still, Still by Norman Luboff,  ¨ Nativity Carol by John Rutter,  ¨ Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy by  David Bowie and Bing Crosby

This Advent, join the GUMC Sanctuary Choir and soloists for a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols—a worship service weaving scripture and music into the story of Christ’s birth. From the promise of redemption in Genesis to the wonder of “the Word made flesh” in John, nine readings will invite us to listen, reflect, and rejoice together.

The choir will share music by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Elaine Hagenberg, John Rutter, Dan Forrest, and Philip Stopford. Selections include The Truth Sent from Above, Sussex Carol, Personent Hodie, There Is Faint Music, and We Three Kings. Our women’s choir will also offer Mary, Did You Know?

The congregation will lend its voice to well-known carols, including Once in Royal David’s City, Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus, and Angels We Have Heard on High. The service will culminate in Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, with brass adding to the celebration.

String, vocal, brass, and woodwind soloists will enrich this special morning of worship. Plan to arrive at 9:45 a.m. for prelude music, featuring cello and piano in The Piano Guys’ arrangement of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, before the service begins at 10:00 a.m.

Invite a friend, bring your family, and come share in the hope, peace, and joy of the Christmas story.
