All are welcome to share in a delicious pot-luck luncheon together twice a year. We take time to enjoy some great fellowship and food. There is a summer garden party in the Biblical Garden in August and a Christmas Party in the church parlor in December. This easy-going fun group meets the third Friday of August and December.

This is a virtual support group. Prayers chain requests come to the church through Sunday Pew Prayer cards, phone calls to the church office or emails to the Church office or staff. The prayer requests are distributed via e-mail once a week, or more if necessary. At least twenty-five people pray fervently and daily for those who have requested to be placed on the Prayer Chain list.

The vision of Friends in Touch is to keep in touch, through visits, phone calls and letters with those who are unable to attend regular services of worship, and to be alert to special needs of our church family and friends.

Many of our community are unable to participate in any of the many church activities. Some are ill, some are homebound, some are caring for family members; and some of our church family are unable to drive or cope with being in a crowded sanctuary. Many of them long to hear firsthand about their friends at the Glenview United Methodist Church.

Friends in Touch can be assigned or may choose a person or family to visit or contact regularly. Perhaps there is someone in the neighborhood who would enjoy a brief visit, sharing a cup of coffee or a glass of lemonade; perhaps there is someone who is recovering from surgery or a serious illness and would appreciate a visitor.

To become a Friends in Touch or have a Friend visit you, contact: Norma Putman (847)498-1692, Ethel Doyle (847)965-5417, or any of the pastoral staff. Call the church office at 847-729-1015.
